Description — Maasdam

Maasdam 5* - the 5th cruise ship of the Holland America Line company with a 135-year history. Small in size, Maasdam was designed specifically to make it easier to deliver a higher level of service onboard with fewer passengers, as well as to provide generous space on the ship. The second feature is that most cabins have their own balcony.

The interior is styled in the spirit of Dutch colonies of the 17th-19th centuries in East and West Indies. In the central part of this refined cruise ship, in a tall three-deck atrium, there is "Totem" by Luciano Vistosi - a monumental sculpture that uses almost 2,000 shimmering glass particles.

Other intriguing works of art shown on the Maasdam include two abstract paintings created especially for Rotterdam and a collection of seven Japanese cast-iron teapots dating to the end of the Edo period.
