Description — Koningsdam
Holland America Line presents its new 12-deck cruise ship under the name Koningsdam. The ship’s name continues the cruise company’s traditions with the suffix «dam» and pays tribute to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, the first King of the Netherlands.
The company’s CEO characterized Koningsdam as follows: «This new Pinnacle-class ship will be our biggest, most modern vessel, and that’s what we tried to reflect in its name».
And this is indeed a new type of cruise ship for Holland America Line. With a tonnage of 99 500 tons and capacity for 2 650 guests and 1 025 crew members, the ship is the largest ever built by the Dutch company. Many new public areas have been added to the liner, distinguished by spaciousness, and several innovative features have been introduced.
To ensure the new liner is truly elegant and modern, Holland America Line brought in two wonderful specialists for the project: Adam D. Tihani, one of the world’s most outstanding designers, and the designer and architect Bjørn Storbraaten, who has already demonstrated his capabilities in creating the Nieuw Amsterdam and Eurodam liners.
Koningsdam offers vast, light-filled spaces, sleek flowing surfaces and lines, the complex interplay of high technology and elegance, and beautiful architectural elements. The ship’s interior blends a fresh, modern design with traditional classic elegance from Holland America Line. Describing the liner, Tihani says that the architecture of Koningsdam was inspired by music.
«When creating the interiors of this liner, we aimed to use refined lines, dramatic textures, lighting effects, and high-quality materials. I tried to bring volume and lightness into every space, so that no matter which stateroom a guest stays in, they can feel a special atmosphere ».
Drinks Packages — Koningsdam
The cruise line recommends having three types of clothing during your voyage:
everyday wear for relaxation and sports activities (casual),
clothing and shoes for excursions depending on the season and route specifics (sport and casual)
elegant attire for evening visits to restaurants and evening events: shows, the casino, clubs, and bars (smart casual "more strict" and formal "strict").
During formal evenings, cocktail dresses for women and suits with ties or tuxedos for men are welcome (the latter can be rented on board for an additional fee).
During evening events, the cruise line does not welcome being in beachwear: shorts, flip-flops, and sneakers.
