The extra-luxury liner “Silver Spirit,” the newest ship in the Silversea Cruises fleet and at the same time the largest, was built and launched in 2009. The suites on Silver Spirit are the largest by area in the entire company fleet, with 95% of them featuring private verandas. Other exciting new features include the Stars Supper Club, a restaurant styled in an Asian theme, a huge spa, a large pool, and four jacuzzis. The liner’s incredibly appealing itineraries are also noteworthy: they include visits to a variety of fascinating events, such as, for example, the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix.
On Silver Spirit, interactive television appears for the first time: at any moment, guests can independently choose one of 387 films to watch. An interesting solution is the placement of a large flat-screen display: it became “part of” the mirror and does not take up extra space. The well-equipped bathroom includes a bathtub and a shower cabin with a shower that offers both manual and automatic modes, as well as toiletries from three elite brands-Salvatore Ferragamo, Bvlgari, and Neutrogena.
Alongside the classic restaurants available on all ships of the cruise company-The Restaurant, La Terrazza, and Pool Bar & Grill-Silver Spirit can also boast two absolutely new ones: Stars Supper Club and the Japanese Seishin. Seishin is a kind of theater: while seated at a table, guests can watch as the chef prepares sushi and sashimi with delicate precision. Guests can choose from a light menu of 4 courses or a more substantial one with 9 courses; the latter may include signature dishes such as beef teppanyaki or king scallop carpaccio with flying fish roe.
Stars Supper Club offers five options of an exquisite menu representing the cuisines of five continents: oysters paso in sparkling wine, asparagus in roe cream, fried beetroot with gorgonzola and pine nuts, and other culinary masterpieces. At 22:00, a jazz music concert begins in the restaurant.
Silver Spirit is the only ship in the company whose theater allows large-scale productions in a Broadway style. In addition, the entertainment program changes from cruise to cruise: the company constantly invites well-known musicians and artists. A distinctive feature of the cruises, as on other Silversea ships, is the excellent lectures about the countries and cities along the route.
On board there is a modern spa offering the most comprehensive range of treatments: Botox lifting, hammam, an ancient Arab body scrub, massages with bamboo sticks, acupuncture, teeth whitening, milk wraps, and much more.
Service on the ship traditionally corresponds to the six-star boutique liner class. For example, on the eve of the cruise, all restaurant staff must take an “exam” before the executive chef on recognizing guests’ faces, names, and cabin numbers. So don’t be surprised that the waitstaff will recognize you by face and address you by name with such ease, as if they’ve known you your whole life.
