Review - Seabourn

Seabourn Cruise Line - a luxury cruise company whose ships sail all over the world, offering both short seven-day cruises and exclusive 100-day-or-longer round-the-world voyages. The company’s fleet consists exclusively of small ships, which can call at small ports that are usually not visited by major ocean liners. There are five ships that can be divided into 2 groups. The ships in the first group, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend, were built in the late 1980s - early 1990s. In October 2006, Seabourn ordered three new luxury cruise ships. These were Seabourn Odyssey (built in 2009), Seabourn Sojourn (2010) and Seabourn Quest (June 2011).

By the end of 2016, the company plans to build a seventh, ultra-luxury ship that will provide the ideal replacement for the three older vessels.

Regardless of the ship’s age, each one offers a wide range of options for guests’ fully enjoyable stay on board: excellent spas, restaurants and bars, swimming pools and jacuzzis, libraries and internet centers, as well as many entertainment programs. The suites are equipped with everything you need and stand out for their enhanced comfort and convenience. The staff are consistently polite, attentive and professional. It is no coincidence that, according to surveys conducted by the well-known travel publications Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure, Seabourn was recognized as the company No. 1 in the category «Best Luxury Cruise Line» (World’s Best Small Ship Cruise Line).

Having been a pioneer in the small-ship cruise industry in 1986, the company is still one of the leaders in this segment. 90% of cabins on Seabourn ships are suites, cruises follow unique routes designed so that each region is visited at the most favorable time of year for it. The company’s staff have repeatedly received all kinds of awards in the tourism and service sectors, and their staff-to-guest ratio on board ships is almost 1:1. Personalized service and warm hospitality are Seabourn’s defining features.

Cruising regions: Antarctica and Patagonia, the Arabian Peninsula, Africa, India, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, New England and Canada, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, South America, Transatlantic cruises, Round-the-world cruises.

Seabourn offers:

1. The most exquisite cuisine at sea. Seabourn is not without reason a member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, one of the most prestigious gourmet haute cuisine organizations in the world. The ship’s restaurants feature highly qualified chefs, only natural and the best ingredients, always an original menu, and exquisite rare wines.

2. Fascinating conversations with interesting people - the art of communication has always been central to Seabourn. For this purpose, the company invites professionals and experts from a wide range of fields: researchers, scientists, chefs, artists, politicians and many others. They won’t give you lectures - they will share their knowledge and take part in conversations throughout the voyage: at the table, on excursions, by the pool - in general, they will do everything to make your cruise enjoyable and as interesting as possible.

Seabourn Conversations program options:

- discussions about art (music, theatre, dance, film, literature and the visual arts);

- conversations with celebrities (actors, singers, etc.);

- culinary discussions (chefs, critics, food producers);

- conversations about countries (in accordance with the ship’s itinerary, specialists in geography and history);

- discussions about modern society and its history (politicians, diplomats, economists);

- scientific discussions (astronomers, geologists, biologists and naturalists, physicists, etc.).

Recommended for

Older-generation ships (Seabourn Spirit, Seabourn Legend) are recommended for conservative guests whose average age is from 60 years. New-generation ships (Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn, Seabourn Quest), thanks to their onboard innovations and a broader choice of entertainment, are ready to offer an extremely interesting luxury holiday to younger guests (from 40 years and older). There are no children’s areas on board Seabourn ships, as these vessels are not designed for traveling with children.

Highlights

- Capacity of 208 or 450 guests, offering individual service.
- The ships’ small size allows them to call at unique ports that are unavailable to larger ships. The most convenient berths are in the city’s central areas.

- Top-level service.

- All suites feature panoramic windows or balconies.
- Many open bars with complimentary wines at lunch and dinner.
- Meals in all onboard restaurants are included in the price and do not require additional payments.
- A mini-bar in every cabin, stocked according to each guest’s personal preferences.
