The cultural district of the city is considered to be Dragão do Mar, where you can find several popular museums at once. Among them, it is worth highlighting the Museum of Art and the Culture Memorial. Also nearby are a theater and a planetarium. There’s no need to worry about getting bored here, even for fans of active entertainment, because in Dragão do Mar there are several large amusement parks, an entertainment complex, and several playgrounds.
Historic buildings are typical of the city center. All the buildings have been restored, and today you can find restaurants, shops, and bars in them. As for architectural landmarks, it’s worth mentioning the Metropolitan Cathedral, which was built in 1978 and is considered the most beautiful building in the city. The cathedral’s towers are 75 meters tall, and its spacious hall can accommodate 5,000 visitors.
One of the most visited venues is still the José de Alencar Theater, surrounded by a beautiful park. A trip to the Ceará Museum will be a great pleasure, where more than 7,000 antique exhibits are on display. The museum’s ten halls feature a wide variety of collections: furniture, clothing, jewelry, and many other vintage items. Another historical monument is the José de Alencar House-Museum, once owned by the well-known writer. The house has its interior and furnishings completely preserved; it houses a collection of manuscripts and also has a large library.
