Cabo San Lucas - a city in Mexico, located in the state of South Lower California and in the municipality of Los Cabos. Population: 56 811 people. One of the popular seaside resorts in Mexico. Cabo San Lucas is often called the pearl of the California peninsula. The peninsula itself is considered one of the driest regions on the planet. A narrow strip of land stretches for 1247 km-much longer than the Apennine Peninsula of Italy. Its main attraction is nature: mountains, rocks, azure bays, sandy dunes, deserts covered with various types of cacti, mountain slopes, kilometers of beautiful white beaches, oases of date palms, wonderful sunrises and sunsets. At the very end of the California peninsula (where “the Earth ends and the ocean begins”) lies Cabo San Lucas.
Historically, it happened that stars of Hollywood first discovered Cabo San Lucas more than sixty years ago. Movie stars liked the quiet and sparsely populated fishing village in contrast to the rapidly growing and crowded Acapulco. The city was visited by such celebrities as American western king John Wayne, musician and actor Desi Arnaz, comedy actress Lucille Désirée Ball, actor and singer Crosby Bing. They say that Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Ernest Hemingway and the famous World Ocean researcher Jacques-Yves Cousteau visited here. In 1951, another Nobel Prize laureate, John Steinbeck, published the book “A Journal from the Sea of Cortez”. That’s how Cabo San Lucas gained worldwide fame.
Today, Cabo is still known for fishing, but even more it is famous for its spectacular scenery, almost perfect weather, golf, water sports, the richness of the underwater world, whale watching, and nighttime entertainment.
ClimateThe climate here is mild subtropical. Throughout the year, the average temperature changes practically not at all and is about +11 degrees in the winter period, +27 degrees in summer.
