Aristovo

Aristovo is a village in the Veliky Ustyug District of the Vologda Oblast. A “green stopover” is arranged here for the river cruise ship sailing along the Sheksna and Sukhona rivers.

In a ravine on the right slope of the valley of the r. Malaya Severnaya Dvina, 1 km upstream from the village of Aristovo (between the villages of Aristovo and Kuznevo), an exposure of vividly colored deposits of the Upper Tatar substage of the Upper Permian system has been revealed, with a rich complex of organic remains. At the base of the exposure there is one of the most well-known sandy lenses on the Northern Dvina-the so-called Aristovo lens-containing a rich complex of vertebrate remains.

Tourists arriving in the village by ship, during the stopover, get acquainted with the beekeeper’s homestead, the life of bees, and the healing properties of honey.
