«Princess Maria» was built at a Finnish shipyard in 1981 and was originally owned by Silja Line. At the time, it was a modern ferry that-thanks to its passenger capacity and the amount of space per passenger-was among the largest in the world. Partly due to the introduction of this vessel into service, the Helsinki-Stockholm route, which had been purely for transportation, was transformed into a cruise itinerary.
In 2010, «Princess Maria» was chartered by the ferry operator ST. PETER LINE and sails on the Saint Petersburg - Helsinki route. Today, this is a modern, comfortable ship offering a full range of onboard services. In winter 2014, the ship was used as a floating hotel during the Olympic Games in Sochi.
On board, there are 606 cabins, divided into five categories and, accordingly, five price tiers. There are suites, interior cabins, and cabins with a window. The cabin standards are somewhat lower than those required by sea cruise standards, but undoubtedly higher than what typical ferries offer.
Everything you need is on board to ensure your trip is comfortable and enjoys a cozy atmosphere. Restaurants with a variety of menus, including seafood and Russian cuisine, duty-free shops with a wide selection of goods, including souvenirs, a nightclub and a theatre, several lounges and bars, a casino, a cinema, a sauna, and even a small pool.
The sports area on «Princess Maria» includes a fitness center, a sauna, and pools for adults and children. At the fitness center, you can not only use strength training equipment or a treadmill, but also, together with a professional instructor, create an individual training program. In the «Aquazone» area next to the pool, there is a bar. Everything you need for swimming, including swimwear, can be rented at the reception desk.
The cruise ferry is also a comfortable choice for passengers traveling with children. Specially for the little guests, there is a kids’ playroom on board; nanny and childcare services are available; a children’s menu and desserts are offered; and special movie screenings are arranged.
