Celebrity Edge is an absolutely new class of ship, designed to break the expectations of what’s possible with modern luxury cruises. Edge is the first among 4 cruise ships in this new class. The second, Celebrity Beyond, is scheduled to be launched in spring 2020. Celebrity Cruise worked on this cruise ship with a team of the best designers, whose task was to create a ship that would raise the travel standard and take it to a new level. Architectural standards were rewritten to create a perfect futuristic aesthetic that challenges the foundations of cruise-ship design and makes the industry rethink the concept of cruising.
Celebrity Edge is a transformer ship. The main focus of the designers’ work was on placing the guests. Where you’ll live and sleep during your journey is very important. Kelly Hopen, the designer who worked on the new staterooms, made their design as comfortable as possible while still modern-because your cabin is your home during your vacation. So on Celebrity Edge a new category of stateroom appeared with a balcony-“infinite balconies”. With a single move, the appearance of the stateroom changes beyond recognition. You press a button, the balcony doors open fully, and the balcony becomes as if one with the interior space, while the cabin area increases by 23%. A total of 918 staterooms with “infinite balconies” are located on Celebrity Edge.
Another great piece of news awaits lovers of suites. On the new cruise ship, there will be two new categories at once-Iconic Suite and Edge Villa.
Iconic Suite-with an area of about 464 sq.m-will be located right above the captain’s bridge, and the view from this stateroom will be nothing short of divine.
Edge Villa-these are two-level villa-style staterooms with a private terrace and a jacuzzi. An additional bonus for guests staying in these staterooms is direct access to the private Retreat area, created especially for suite guests and closed to other passengers.
Also on Celebrity Edge, 16 single staterooms will appear.
On the ship’s upper deck, a real Rooftop Garden will bloom with live plants, sculptures, and its own restaurant. During the day, guests can do yoga right in the middle of the garden, and in the evening they can enjoy performances by street musicians under the stars.
And the main new feature of Celebrity Edge-is the mobile platform Magic Carpet, the size of which matches a tennis court. This platform will transform depending on the time of day: during port calls, it will lower by 2 decks and create a special comfortable area for embarkation and disembarkation; during the day it will be on the 5th deck and will be part of the alternative restaurant Al Fresco; and at night it will turn into a lounge area.
